I conceive and carve my own works in stone, focussing primarily on texture, depth and line to explore a variety of themes. Each piece also responds to the nature of the individual stone.

IN 3

LANTERN

The two Lantern carvings extract two versions of the same architectural space. One is bound to the world of construction, where material is taken from one place and transformed, given new physical form and meaning. The other is seeking to free itself from the limitations of this single existence, exposing concealed geometries, evoking infinite space, yet confirming these can only be present in conjunction with physical material.
